Enrolment

St Clement of Rome Primary School Bulleen

Choosing the right school for your family is a very important decision.

We recommend the following steps:

  1. Book a Tour.

A school tour is a great opportunity to see our school in action. We will take the time to have a comprehensive discussion about your child’s individual educational needs and we can also answer any specific questions you may have:

  • See our dedicated & talented teachers in action

  • Get to know some of our students

  • Gain some insights

  • Learn about our curriculum opportunities

Tours are available up until the end of May, each Monday at 10:00am and each Thursday at 10:00am. Call the office on 9850 1216  to book in for a tour today!

  1. Enrolment Form

You can download our enrolment form  – and either fill it out using your online PDF editor or print it and return it to us filled out.  Alternatively, drop in and pick a form up from the school or call us and we can mail one out to you.  Give us a call if you need assistance – (03) 9850 1216

  1. Letter of Offer

Your enrolment will be confirmed in writing, with a Letter of Offer.  You can then accept a place for your child at St Clement of Rome.  In rare circumstances we will be at capacity and some enrolments will be placed on a waiting list.  To avoid going onto a waiting list please ensure you submit your enrolment form as early as possible.

  1. Prep Transition

An important feature of our school is the well established and successful Prep Transition Program that we run.  One of our priorities is that all children new to the school feel happy and secure as quickly as possible. This includes:

  • An individual meeting involving the parent/s, the child, the Principal and Parish Priest

  • Prep Transition Sessions

  • A special “First Day” of the school year with a 2 hour Prep only afternoon

Buddy Program

A school buddy program pairing a Prep child with a Year 6 child can be a fantastic initiative with numerous benefits for both the younger and older students.

  1. Academic Support: The Year 6 buddy can offer academic support to the prep child. They can help in many ways, reinforcing what the prep child is learning in class.

  2. Emotional Support: Transitioning into school can be daunting for prep children. Having an older buddy can provide emotional support and reassurance, helping them feel more comfortable and confident in their new environment.

  3. Role Modeling: Year 6 students can serve as positive role models for prep children. They can demonstrate good behavior, manners, and study habits, which the younger students can emulate.

  4. Friendship and Social Skills: Building friendships is crucial for children's social development. Pairing prep children with older buddies can facilitate social interactions, helping them develop essential social skills like communication, cooperation, and empathy.

  5. Sense of Belonging: Being part of a buddy program fosters a sense of belonging within the school community for both prep and year 6 students. It creates a supportive environment where everyone feels valued and included.

  6. Leadership Opportunities: For year 6 students, being a buddy provides an opportunity to develop leadership skills. They can take on responsibilities, such as guiding their younger buddies, resolving conflicts, and organizing activities.

  7. Cross-Age Learning: Both prep and year 6 students can learn from each other. The prep child may teach their older buddy new perspectives, creativity, and curiosity, while the year 6 child can share their knowledge and experiences.

  8. Building Confidence: Interacting with older students can boost the confidence of prep children. As they form a bond with their buddy and receive encouragement and praise, they become more self-assured in their abilities.

  9. Sense of Responsibility: Year 6 buddies learn responsibility by taking care of their younger peers. They understand the importance of being reliable and supportive, which prepares them for future leadership roles.

  10. Long-lasting Relationships: Buddy programs often lead to long-lasting friendships between students. Even after the school year ends, the bond formed between prep and year 6 buddies can continue, enriching their school experience and beyond.
