4Rs

The Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) curriculum in Victoria is designed to promote equality, nurture  respectful relationships, and provide students with social skills they can utilise beyond the classroom . It provides students with essential knowledge and skills, as well as opportunities to roleplay positive interactions with others in scenarios that are contextualised to our setting.  The curriculum empowers students to recognise their rights, understand their responsibilities, and foster respectful interactions, contributing to a safer, more inclusive school environment and society overall.

Zone of Regulation

The Zones of Regulation is a framework designed to help our students learn to recognise and regulate their emotions and behaviours. It categorises emotions into four colour-coded zones:

  1. Blue Zone: Feelings like sadness, boredom, or feeling tired.

  2. Green Zone: Represents a calm and focused state, associated with feeling happy, content, or focused.

  3. Yellow Zone: Indicates a heightened state of alertness and arousal, such as feeling anxious, excited, or frustrated.

  4. Red Zone: Represents intense emotions like anger, rage, or panic.

Teachers use the framework to help students identify which zone they’re in and provide strategies to help move to a more regulated state, depending on the zone they’re in.

Behaviour Support

At St. Clement of Rome, Bulleen, fostering positive behaviours and maintaining a supportive learning environment is paramount. We have clear school rules that promote accountability and we have high expectations that students adhere to these rules. The school-wide rules include:

1 -  I follow instructions

2 - I speak appropriately

3 - I listen to the speaker

4 - I move around safely

5 - I look after all property

6 - I keep my hands and feet to myself

We pride ourselves on our clear and effective  behaviour support process, which is firmly rooted in the principles of Restorative Practice. Rather than solely focusing on punitive measures, Restorative Practice  emphasises repairing relationships that may have been strained by addressing the underlying causes of behaviour. Through promoting a sense of accountability, remorse, and forgiveness true to our Catholic school identity, we strive to cultivate a community where every individual feels valued and respected. Our approach resolves conflicts whilst importantly strengthening the fabric of our school community, fostering empathy and understanding among students and staff alike.

Promoting positive behaviours, our Mercy Awards system acknowledges the commendable attitudes and actions that students demonstrate in enacting our school motto, Love One Another. We pride ourselves on the role model qualities that our students endeavour to demonstrate in their interactions with members of the St Clement of Rome community.
